'08 Trip 2
September 2008 found us off for two weeks with Chris and Bonnie for our
third vacation to the Pacific Northwest. After a night in Seattle, we drove to
North Cascades National Park where we relaxed for two days at the
Freestone Inn Ranch. Our next stop was the Grand Coulee Dam, the largest
concrete structure in the U.S., where we toured the museum and the power
plant inside the dam. After a night in Coeur d'Alene ID, it was on to Farmington
WA where we
stayed with brother Chuck and Kerma for three days. Cousin
Melissa, husband Kevin and their 2 children came up from Boise for an
overnight
visit. Some of Kerma's family (of the Nez
Perce tribe) also visited for a day. We relaxed and ate well at
Chuck's, a diet of salmon and buffalo burgers! Finally we moved on down the Columbia River
and stayed for a night at the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort, where we made good use
of their soothing facilities! The next morning, we hiked
Mt. Hood and the beautiful Multnomah waterfalls. Then it was on to the
splendid northern coast of Oregon for four days at a rental house right on
the ocean in
quaint Cannon Beach. We relaxed, took walks and of course I took lots of photos!
Our last day found us hiking majestic Mt. Rainier before returning to
Seattle for our flight home. Needless to say, we had a great vacation!
