New York City Trip 2
We put together this trip to attend Chris' burial in
Long Island on 7/22/11, the anniversary date of his passing, at the
cemetery where Bonnie's dad and sister were laid to rest. It was a sad occasion, but we
take consolation that Chris led his life to the fullest.
Sue and I stayed at
the historic Danford's Inn at Port Jefferson. After
the burial, I ferried to Bridgeport CT to visit Alan, who recently moved
there. The next day we checked into a hotel one block
from Times Square in NYC. Alan came down via train and spent the afternoon with
us. We had lunch at The Stage Deli, saw NYC from the "Top of the Rock"
(Rockefeller Center), then took the subway to Chinatown and Little
Italy, where we had dinner. That night Sue and I walked around Times Square.
It was crowded but fun. The next
day, we took the subway to Wall Street, Trinity Church, Customs House,
Battery Park and the World Trade Center site. Then on to Greenwich
Village for lunch, after which Sue spent time at Macy's (largest
department store in the world). That evening, we walked to the NYC
Library, Grand Central Station and Central Park, where we took a
carriage ride through the park. A fun trip! |
